One of Denver’s best beer bars – Star Bar

Since 1959 Star Bar has been serving up drinks to thirsty Denverites.  But it wasn’t until last April that Star Bar underwent an overhaul and put on a brand new face.  Gone is the old sketchy dive bar; and enter an amazing semi dive bar with a great beer selection and an extremely impressive spirit collection.

One of the owners, and the public face of the new Star Bar, Justin Lloyd, can almost always be found behind the bar serving great craft beers and classic cocktails with some amazing local spirits, like Leopold’s and Stranahan’s.  The six tap handles and numerous bottles and cans are constantly changing, with amazing beers from Colorado and the rest of the country’s best breweries.  If you have any questions about the beers or want to challenge Justin to make you one of the best cocktails you’ve ever had let him know, he knows his stuff and your taste buds will thank you.  Last week I may have stopped by to enjoy a La Folie and a Double Colorado Blackberry Whiskey Sour, and I was happy.

On tap now:

  • La Folie – New Belgium
  • Seventeen – Avery
  • Saison du Buff – Stone/Dogfish Head/Victory
  • Dale’s Pale Ale – Oskar Blues
  • Abbey – New Belgium
  • Coors Light

Bottles and cans:

  • Colette – Great Divide
  • Joe’s Pilsner – Avery
  • IPA – Avery
  • Ellie’s Brown – Avery
  • White Rascall – Avery
  • Gubna – Oskar Blues
  • Ten Fidy – Oskar Blues
  • Gordon – Oskar Blues
  • Old Chub – Oskar Blues
  • Mama’s Little Yella Pils – Oskar Blues
  • Modus Hoperandi – Ska
  • Euphoria – Ska
  • True Blonde – Ska
  • Sunshine Wheat- New Belgium
  • Fat Tire – New Belgium
  • Hazed and Infused – Boulder Beer
  • Railyard – Wynkoop
  • Silverback Pale – Wynkoop
  • Coors Banquet
  • Coors Light
  • Corona
  • Bud
  • Bud Light
  • PBR

With such a strong lineup you will be pleasantly surprised to hear that the most expensive beer is just $6.  Star Bar is always providing great entertainment too, with karaoke or live music several nights a week.  Stop by on Mondays to play rock, paper, scissors with the bartender.  If you win, your drink is free!

Star Bar has quickly become one of the most talked about, and visited, craft beer bars in town, and it’s no surprise given the friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the great drink selections.

Not to mention live music that begs to be danced to! Justin and his staff couldn’t be more helpful in choosing just the right libation to accompany a good time.
